Women supporting women

I wrote this article after listening to a show on TV where one of the male panelists stated that the reason that women athletes didn't make as much money as their male counterparts is because women do not support women athletic teams.

He stated that men watch sports on TV, pay for products sold by the teams, pay the high ticket prices to attend games and do all they can to support their favorite team.

Women on the other hand expect to get everything the men get without doing the work of cultivating the fans, building the loyal advertising base and all that goes into having a successful athletic franchise.

That really hit me hard. I enjoy playing sports and will even watch some sports on TV. I am not a rabid fan of any team, male or female, however, I realized that he was correct. If most women feel like I do about watching sports, whether on TV or in person, then those women who are playing those sports will never receive the appreciation, in terms of dollars, that men receive.

Then I started thinking about women in business. Why is it that most businesses are run by men?

I think the number one reason is men had to cooperate to bring down a large mammoth for dinner whether they liked each other or not. That cooperative spirit continues to this day and makes men able to give another man a job recommendation even if they don't like them very much.
