Wall Street Journal reports on working from home

Oct 30, 2020

A Wall Street Journal article investigates how companies are coping with so many employees working from home. They have determined that it is still necessary for employers to establish guidelines regarding working hours and employee norms even when the manager cannot “see” the employees they are managing.

Just like children need boundaries set by their parents, employees also need to know what is expected of them by their employer. Many employees feel isolated and alone in the new reality of working from home and need reassurance from their manager and their company that they are still part of a team.

If you are a manager, consider regular Zoom meetings with the team and let them know how things are going with the company. Top executives should also hold quarterly staff meetings to let everyone in the company know how things are going and the longer-range plans.

Keeping everyone in the company on the same page is how your company will not only survive this pandemic but thrive!
