Top 10 lists – these are popular for a variety of reasons.

Top 10 list of richest people in the US
Top 10 list of richest people in the World
Top 10 list of Money making ideas
Well, you get the idea. And everyone and their brother has a top 10 list of something they are interested in.
For the philatelic – there is the Top 10 list of most expensive stamp ever found or maybe the Top 10 list of stamps I’d like to own
For the musically inclined the Top 10 list of best singers or songwriters or drummers, guitarists
While the investors have a top 10 list of best investments of all time or Top 10 list of businesses I’d like to own or Top 10 list of best inventions
The fact is that making lists and ranking things seem to be a fascination of many people.
And generally, the Top 10 lists lead to lots of discussion and even arguments as the top 10 lists tend to be subjective. What makes one drummer, athlete, guitarist, songwriter, etc better than any other one?
Your criteria could be very different from mine.
Despite all the drama, the Top 10 lists can serve a useful purpose in your goal to reach financial freedom.
Think about your monetary goals, dreams, aspirations. List everything you would like to have, do, be. For this exercise just write for at least 10 minutes. Do not censor anything. If it comes to mind, write it down and just keep writing without thinking.
After 10 minutes have passed and no more thoughts come to mind, stop writing and start reviewing what you wrote.
As you were just free-associating and putting words on paper, your wants, dreams, goals, aspirations are all mixed together. Start by separating the words into categories. Is this something you want to be, do, or have?
Once they are categorized then review the lists and sort them in order. The order could be the easiest to achieve or item you would like to have first. This is your list so sort it in a way that makes sense to you.
Once all the lists have been categorized and sorted create your Top 10 list and post it in a prominent place.
This Top 10 list will help keep you on track when the inevitable obstacle comes your way.
Consider doing this exercise at least once a year. You especially want to do this exercise after achieving some of the items on the Top 10 list so you can always have a Top 10 list to work towards.
Also, consider a gratitude journal. This will also help you stay focused and motivated for your financial and wellness journey.
