Labor Day and the new work reality
How are you doing workwise?
Still working? Still looking? Laid off because of COVID-19?
The unemployment numbers are slowly returning to normal. The numbers released in March show unemployment at 4.4%, which historically has been considered full employment.
By April due to the shutdown which was ordered to flatten the curve, unemployment was up to 14.7%. As businesses adjust to the new work reality and arrange for people to work from home, while others find ways to make it possible to go to the office/worksite, the unemployment numbers have dropped to 8.4% of the potential working population.
Regardless of what you were doing and how the company you worked for handled the COVID-19 crisis, how are you handling the current work reality?
· Are you still employed – your company was considered essential?
· Company closed for a while and now they are open again?
· Company is still closed and not sure when they will/if they will reopen?
· Started a hobby which you can do from home and make some income?
How are your finances? Just because there is a pandemic does not mean you should abandon your financial plan. Keep working on your plan even if you have to make adjustments whether that is for income from different sources, less income, changing to a cheaper apartment to conserve cash.
This too shall pass.
What will this unique time lead you to do/become?
I believe in you!
