Covid-19 and Your Finances
It’s been 8 weeks since companies started recommending people work from home. And a couple of weeks after that the suggestion was to close down the businesses that were considered non-essential to slow/prevent the spread of Covid-19.
How are you doing?
- Are you someone who is able to work from home?
- Are you still getting your regular paycheck or are you getting a reduced paycheck?
- Is the isolation getting to you? Or do you have a strong support structure in place?
- Are you finding yourself resorting to shopping therapy to feel better about what is happening around the world?
Let us take a minute and just take a breath. Long breath in, hold it, hold it, slowly release the breath. Now again Long breath in, hold it, hold it, slowly release the breath.
You will want to take a mindful breath throughout your day to help you stay focused and connected.
Also now is a good time to review your financial plan and do your best to stay on track.
If you have to dip into your emergency fund because you are less than fully employed currently, take a look at options for other income. Do you have items that you don’t use anymore? Think about posting them on eBay or craigslist and selling them.
Don’t want people coming to your home to collect the items then consider small items that you can ship to them.
If you are currently laid off you might consider applying for a delivery job at your favorite restaurant. Many restaurants are still open for delivery and pickup orders only. This could help tide you over until you are able to go back to your regular job.
Or maybe now is the time to write that book you have been thinking about.
Take some time now and review your options for maintaining your income, keeping your budget on track, and keeping you healthy.
I believe in you!
